Elm Wood Lumber 
Elm Wood (Ulmus americana)
 Elm Wood-Sapwood is light in color with medium reddish brown heartwood.   Elm has a straight long grain pattern and very attractive figure.  Even though the Dutch Elm Disease devastated the elm populations of this country, there were certain species, such as red elm, that were more resistant to the disease and more isolated from their closely situated cousins in the cities.  The urban timber program produces Elm trees from time to time and they make excellent lumber.
